Hello parents,
I am not checking my email everyday, I am completely in summer mode. Sorry if I have not responded quickly to any questions. But I do want to maybe help clear up some confusion. The $200.00 initial costume fee paid is to cover the cost of the costumes for the dance team and a standard participation fee for being on the dance team. These costumes that are purchased with this money will be property of BHS Dance at the end of the year. It is a flat fee to order new items, replace old items and launder all items at the end of the year. This does not include any items your child needs that will belong to them (shoes, tights, warm-ups, etc.) All of this was outlined in the BHS Dance Constitution that each child received, and everyone signed that they had read it and understood all the rule, regulations and fees. If anyone needs another copy, I will be happy to send one via email or US mail, just let me know. I will try to check my emails more frequently this summer, so if you have any questions please ask.
Connie is in charge of the money that runs through the booster club. Because Mrs. Holl and I are teachers, we are not allowed to deal with money unless it runs through the school bookkeeper, and that is a huge hassle. But, we also need a parent to take over being the president of the booster club. In the past, the president called meetings and the parents discussed the purchasing of different items or assisted making decisions involving the dancers. Our former president had a senior last year and we need someone who would be interested to take over. Let us know if you have any interest.
Okay, I also need to let you know about a few dates. Michael's photography will be taking pictures for the football program and we are going to have a few practices before freshman orientation. Below are the dates your dancer currently needs to be available.
Practice, Thursday July 24th 9:00 am - 11:00 am (The dancers will also receive the outfit, tights and shoes they will be wearing for pictures and freshman orientation.)
Photos, Friday, July 25th 9:30 am - 11:00 or 11:30 am (The pictures will be taken at this time, so be dressed and at school by 9:15, we will practice as soon as the pictures are complete.)
Practice, Thursday, July 31st 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Practice, Monday, August 4th 3:45 pm - 5:30 pm
Performance, Tuesday, August 5th (Time TBA)
Practice, Thursday, August 7th 3:45 pm - 5:30 pm
We will then practice every Monday and Thursday 3:45 - 5:30 thru the fall semester. I do not know the entire fall pep rally schedule yet, but our first pep rally should be Friday, Aug. 22 coinciding with the first football game. Mrs. Givens and Mrs. Holl have decided on the warmups, shoes and tights. We will be ordering these soon and must have the money up front to order. We will need the pedinis and tights by picture day in July where we will have pictures made for the football program. Date to follow. So here are the due dates and amounts for these items. Please send the money in the mail, as we will not be meeting before the due dates. I am happy to report that the shoes and warmups came in priced below the original price that was stated in the constitution that Mrs. Givens gave out at the parent meeting and also at the first meeting with the girls.

Hi Dance Team!
We are rescheduling the fittings for the warmups. Instead of Thursday, June 19th at 5:30, we're going to get together Monday, June 23. We'll meet in the gym lobby at 10 am. This shouldn't take long. I'm thinking 20 mins. tops. Any questions or conflicts just let me know.

Hello parents,
-Hope your daughters had a great time at camp. Mrs. Holl has ordered sample sizes of the warmups that we will be purchasing. They will be in next week and Mrs. Holl wants to meet at the high school next Thursday June 19 at 5:30 to size the girls. Please have your daughter at the same entrance to the high school as camp. We will size the girls so that we can get the warmups ordered.
-Every girl needs to have a pair of Pedini dance shoes with dance tights. We order these so they all match. You would be surprised at how many different colors of tan there are out there and it is obvious when they don't match. Also the tights need to match the shoes so we order them together so they match. I have priced them out and prices are as follows with shipping:
Tan Pedinis-$40.00
Suntan Tights-$11.00 per pair
**I would suggest you get 2 pair of tights. There is always the opportunity for a run.
Mrs. Givens is still looking for a dance sneaker that she likes. She will let us know when she picks that out.
-As soon as Mrs. Holl and Mrs. Givens make their decision on the sneaker, I will let you know the price and due dates for both shoes and tights.
Here is an update on upcoming items that will need to be paid for before we can order. I will send you the due date as soon as I know it.

In the calendar (located in the right pane under LINKS) you will find the due dates for tuition and general fund. These are the dates that the payments are due. Please allow time for the mail. All tuition payments are due the first practice of each month. We have to pay to have the dances made and therefore have to have the money in a timely manner as well.
We understand there are alot of start up expenses involved in joining the dance team or any sport or organization at the high school level. We have to order merchandise ahead of time in order to give plenty of time for the uniforms, etc. to arrive before the season starts. Once everything is paid and ordered, it is just monthly tuition from there on out. Mrs. Givens intent is to let everyone know ahead of time on the due dates so that we might plan accordingly.

Hello Parents,
Just a reminder that the costume fee of $200.00 is due now. We have to have the money collected before we can place the order. Please mail me your payment if you haven't already done so, asap. Checks made to: BHS Dance Team. We want to get the costumes ordered soon, so that we will have them in before the season starts.
Our goal is to have all uniforms, warmups, costumes, accessory pieces in before the season starts even though there will be items that are not worn until the weather cools off a little.
The beginning of football season is still so hot but it cools off quickly and they will be wearing warmups before we know it plus warmups will be worn on game day to school each Friday unless otherwise noted.

Dance Camp
Hi all,
I hope everyone can get good use of this Blog.
Anyway just a reminder camp starts
next week June 9th 8:00am - 12:00pm Monday thru Friday ( this information can also be found on the calendar (LINKS) on the right.
If your camp fee isn't paid by beginning of first day of camp your daughter will not be able to participate. Also, you need to have the health form filled out by the first day as well. Just bring this health form to camp and give to Mrs. Givens.
