Schedule Change

Due to Labor Day being this Monday, we will not be practicing, but we will practice on Tuesday 3:45 to 5:30. Also, there is another negotiation meeting on Thursday at 4:30 and I think we need some girls there to represent our squad. Others are showing up in mass. So, I was also going to see if we could practice on Wed. of next week 3:45 to 5:30. If anyone has a huge conflict with this, let me know. There is no pep rally tomorrow, but we do have one next Friday, so we need the practice time to finish and polish the dance.

One other thing, I received a letter from the student responsible for our yearbook page and she wants pictures. If you take any pictures throughout the year and want to email them to me or send them on a disk, I will get them to her. Thanks for your support.

Dance Team Supp

I am forwarding each of you this email so you can stay informed of what is going on with the dance team supplements. I am going to the meeting tonight, but will have to leave by 6:00 to get home to my children (my husband has open house). If any of you want to come or your children want to come, they do not need to wear their uniform, but their BHS dance team t-shirt would be fine, then feel free. This is not mandatory and I will not be there the entire time. I just need to let the other schools to know I am supportive on this front. Enjoy reading, it's long.

Backpacks

The embroidery for the backpack is $10.00. Everyone has responded that they want the embroidery. So the breakdown is below. If you have not paid for the backpack, please send a check with your daughter or put in the mail ASAP. I will have the backpacks ready to give out on Thursday, and need your payment before I can give them out.

White Blaze Top

Hello parents,
Just wanted to let everyone know about the washing of the white top and navy skirt.

The white top needs to be washed inside out on gentle/hand wash cycle with cold water and hung to dry.

The navy skirt needs to be washed inside out on gentle/hand wash cycle with cold water and hung to dry.

Please don't wash the top and the skirt together. The colors are very likely to bleed from the skirt.

When we start wearing the orange sequin top, it will probably not have to be washed as often especially when they wear the white crop top under it. This top is alot more delicate and will have to have much more care taken with it or the sequins will fall off.

I thought the girls did a great job Friday. I am taking the backpacks Monday morning to be embroidered and will have them to give out on Thursday at practice. Please send your money to get this taken care of.

Minutes from BHS Dance Booster Club Meeting

Hello,
Just wanted to make sure that everyone saw the article in the DNJ paper this morning about the school board meeting for stipends for the dance team sponsors. It is my understanding that there will be another meeting on Sept 4 to hash this out again. Our sponsors deserve to be paid! They put in alot of time that keeps them away from their family. We have always been able to do a little something at the end of the year, with funds from the general fund that we collect and have at the end of the year. However, it would be nice if they were compensated in some way from the Rutherford County school board.
They are looking to have BHS, LaVergne and Smyrna also in attendance at the next meeting to show how much support they have to get this pushed through for our sponsors. A dance team is not possible without the time and effort that they so graciously put in.
So mark your calendar now for Sept. 4. I am not sure on the time, but when I find out I will let you know. Hopefully our girls will be able to attend the next one as well in their new uniforms!

Meeting

Thanks to those that were able to attend the meeting tonight. I think we discussed alot of important. For those that weren't able to attend, I gave out statements. Please ask your daughter for them. We will be giving out items next week and we can't give out items that aren't paid for. I will be at practice on Monday to collect money for those that need to send it in.
--We discussed bags and decided to go with the backpack version for the bag. The price is $15.00 for the bag with NO embroidery. I will price out the embroidery and let you know and then you can decide if you want to have it done.
I have the following girls down that want a bag. If your daughter is not on the list and you want a bag, please let me know.

Parent Meeting

Dear Dance Team Parents,

I need to meet with all parents on Thursday after practice at 6:00 p.m. in my room G-08. If you park in the back lot, the one opposite of the football field, you can come in the door up the steps. We need to talk about upcoming pep rallies, football games, and some housekeeping (booster club officers). If for some reason you are unable to attend, please let me know.

Also, since we will be meeting at 6:00, I will keep the girls to practice till this time. Thanks for your support.

Practice Times

Hello everyone,

I mentioned this to your dancers on Thursday, but this week only, I need us to practice from 3:15 to 5:00 on Monday, Aug. 4th and Thursday, Aug. 7th. I received my schedule for this week and we are finished at 3:00 each afternoon. Once school begins on Aug. 11th, we will practice each Monday and Thursday after school at 3:45 to 5:45

I also looked at the group pictures of the dance team on the Michael's website today. click on the sports pictures section and follow through by selecting Blackman High School and then groups and teams. I did not see the individual pictures, but I did not look too hard.

Football Tickets

Hello everyone,
The BHS football representative called me this afternoon and wanted me to pass along alittle more information about the season tickets to football games. Mrs. Givens forwarded everyone a flyer from the fooball team however here is a little more information.
-Entrance to each home game is $6.00 per person-this is set by the County for all games
-The dance team girls get in free, but all family members have to pay per person. So if you plan to watch your daughter, it is $6.00 per person to get in.
-There are 5 home varsity games, 4 home freshman games and JV games. Season tickets are good for all these home games.
-The football team is offering discounted tickets to those groups and their families that support the team during game time. For instance, cheerleaders, dance team, band, ROTC and football.
-The discounted ticket is $25.00 per person. This is a $5.00 savings if you go to all the games. Which most of us do because we want to watch our daughters.
-Now speaking from experience, when we play local county teams at home, Riverdale etc. they alone bring 3000 fans. All these fans have to stand in line to get their tickets. In the past, there have been people stand in line for an hour to get into the game during the local games. It is crazy, wonderful, but crazy!
-So to avoid these delays, you can either get there really early, and I do suggest early! Or purchase a season ticket at a discounted price and you don't have to wait in line at all. Just show them your ticket and you are in. No waiting!
-I just wanted to pass along this bit of information. It is well worth the price and avoids alot of standing in line.
-If you are interested, you can let me know and I will get your tickets for you. Kathy Puhr is the football representative that is handling the tickets. However, she has asked me to be the messenger and contact for the dance team. If you are interested, please mail a check to my address, BUT write the check to" BHS Football Booster Club". Not the dance team this time. Can you believe it?
-I will then get the tickets from Kathy and mail them to you. Our deadline is Aug. 21, no exceptions she said.

Information

Just some information I want to share with everyone.

First, I want to thank your daughters for coming to practice on Thurs and Friday, remembering the dance and practicing it and the sideline dances. We will continue to finish learning the sidelines this Thursday and start a new dance the following week.

The pictures that Michaels' took on Friday should be posted on their website by Monday. If you want to order these that is fine, but we will have more pictures made this fall at the studio for the yearbook. The yearbook pictures are usually a little better. I will let you know the date for this as soon as it is scheduled.

Freshman orientation is on Tuesday, Aug. 5th at 6:30. All dancers need to be in the gym, dressed and ready by 6:15. This will give them a few minutes to stretch.
